VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
with Washington County Democrats
Call the office at 503-626-7018 if you are interested in any of these activities
DATA MANAGEMENT: We currently need people to help update our volunteer data base. This work is usually done in the office.
EVENT PLANNING: The WCDCC holds events throughout the year to support our work through fundraising, community outreach, and education. Volunteers help plan and staff these crucial events, such as the Spring Fest, our annual summer picnic and the Fall Neuberger Banquet.
COMMUNITY EVENTS: We staff booths at the County and State Fairs, farmer's markets and local festivals. We also participate in various parades and other community events to raise our visibility, recruit volunteers and promote our agenda.
OFFICE: We need people to staff the office. Volunteers answer phones, greet visitors, help with WCD Committees' projects, as well as a variety of other activities. The office is not always busy, but our presence is always important.
PHONES: Periodically we need help calling people inviting them to our various fundraisers. Also, we are calling our people in our Volunteer Data Base to update their information. Calling can be done from our office or from your home.
WRITING: Advocate for Democratic issues by writing a letter to the editor or contributing an article to our existing newsletters. You could also help to write volunteer job descriptions, position papers or resolutions.
TEACH A CLASS: Join our Training Committee and teach people how to become effective PCPs, how to write a letter to the editor or their legislator, or help teach citizen education.
VIDEOGRAPHER: We are looking for someone to tape our Central Committee meetings for broadcast on cable TV. Also, we want someone to tape events such as town hall meetings to help showcase our legislators and promote greater participation.
COMMITTEES: We have a number of standing committees that could use your help. They include Organization, Communications and Publicity, Finance and Events, Resolutions and Platform, Rules, Young Democrats, Information Technology, Training, and Office. There are also ad-hoc committees, such as Latino Outreach and the Database committee.
PRECINCT COMMITTEE PERSON (PCP): This is one of our most important volunteer positions. Work in your own neighborhood to educate people about the Democratic Party. Party members may file for election as PCPs in May Primary Elections or may be write-in candidates. Vacancies may be filled by appointment between elections at Central Committee Meetings.
To sign up to volunteer: Fill out our online Volunteer Form or come into our office located at 12250 SW Broadway St. in Beaverton and fill out a much more detailed paper form.
