Keep our Washington County Skies Blue
|
Join the Blue Horizon Sustaining Fund! It’s another election year with 2008 promising to be every bit as exciting as 2006. Key to our success is keeping the headquarters open and running smoothly.
Please consider joining the Blue Horizon Sustaining Fund—or if you are currently a member, give thought to increasing your monthly donation—even $5/month more can make a huge difference. |
|
We have a chance to pick up at least one open house seat in Washington County (HD26) while waging critical battles to keep existing seats in HD29, HD30 and HD35. Not to mention the chance of a lifetime to defeat Gordon Smith (and have two Democratic Senators!), plus important statewide office seats to retain. And of course, the U.S. Presidency at stake!
We need your help to offset the off-election year attrition in our membership that occurred last year and the rent increase that came with signing the new 3-year lease. Think about who you know who should be a member and pass along their contact information to Karen Packer at finance@washcodems.org. We really appreciate your past contributions to the Washington County Democrats and hope we can count on your continued support.
On to Victory in 2008!

WashCo Dems Update
News
All PCPs need to file for election
Precinct Committee Person Online Filing Form
Candidates may fill out the form online and submit it directly from the Washington County website from Feb 1st thru March 11th, to be listed on the May 2008 Ballot in Washington County.
Candidates may also print the form and mail or deliver it to the Washington County Elections office on Murray Blvd in Beaverton (next to Washco Sherriff's office across from KMART.)
All appointed and previously elected PCPs should file beginning Feb 1st.
Only ELECTECD PCPs are eligable to vote in the County Democratic Party Reorganization meeting, where we choose all our officers and address specific policy issues per the Party Bylaws.
Candidates need three votes from within their Precinct in the May Primary to be elected - be sure to vote for yourself, and get at least two freinds or neighbors to vote for you as well, and encourage others to run as well!
Interested persons and candidates should also download and read the Washington County Candidate's Manual to learn the rules and obligations of filing and serving. This handbook is also available as an attachment below.
Good luck to all our great PCPs, and encourage your friends to run too!

Attention PCPs! Upcoming Precinct Committee Person Training Events!
Beaverton signed the U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement -
the first step to becoming a Cool City.
By doing so, Beaverton agreed to comply with the Kyoto accord.
Our goal is to develop active citizen participation in encouraging and
eventually enabling Beaverton to take concrete steps to achieve the Cool
Cities benchmarks. We have talked with the Nike sustainability committee
who will be working with us on this project, and St Andrew Lutheran
church has interest as well. If you have interest in being part of a
citizens group that works to get Beaverton going email
