STOP GORDON SMITH Protests at ALL Smith Offices
Where: All of Sen. Gordon Smith’s offices (see list below)
When: Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at 11:30AM-12:30PM.
Why: Gordon Smith says he’s against the Iraq War, but his votes are all over the place.
“Here, There, Everywhere” The Oregonian has said that Gordon Smith is “here, there, everywhere” on the Iraq War (Oregonian, 2/10/07)
Gordon Smith needs to vote against the Iraq War every single time, not just when it’s politically convenient. You can’t vote against withdrawal one day and make up for it the next. We need consistent support to end this war, not someone who changes their mind one day to the next after reading the polls. We need consistent votes, not convenient votes. We need Smith to stand up against the war, not sit down when Bush asks him to. Up-and-down votes won’t end this war. Is Smith for the war or against it?
Each time Smith votes to fund the war and keep troops in Iraq is another day our troops stay in Iraq. 2007 has been the deadliest year of the war yet- we need politicians committed to ending the war, not committed to boosting their poll numbers.

Hass is a former Oregon State Representitive, and recently filed an application to run for the seat in 2008. The public meeting was held on Tuesday Nov 20th at the City of Beaverton Council Chambers.
The commissioners selected from candidates Betty Bode, Mike Bohan, Mark Hass and Shantu Shaw, who were nominated at a convention of elected and appointed Precinct Committee Persons of the Democatic Party. SD14 covers portions of Aloha, Beaverton, Garden Home and SW Portland, and contains HDs 27 & 28.

Action Alert
Representative Greg Walden -- the sole member of Oregon's congressional delegation to vote against reauthorizing the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) -- has reportedly played a prominent role in recent negotiations over the bill. His most recent actions, however, threaten to derail those discussions.
After the U.S. House of Representative failed to override the President's veto last month, Senate leaders of both parties initiated negotiations with approximately three dozen House Republicans who have opposed the legislation, including Representative Walden, in an effort to expand support in the House.
During the past three weeks, this group of House Republicans presented several demands -- each of which the bipartisan Senate leaders have largely met. Now, however, the group has introduced new demands that include placing restrictions on how working families qualify and imposing limits on income eligibility in Medicaid.
These new restrictions, which would cause children in some states to be thrown off the program and would limit the ability of states to reach their uninsured, is unlikely to be acceptable to the bipartisan majority of lawmakers supporting children's health coverage, and therefore imperils the negotiations.
Most lawmakers have now recessed for the Thanksgiving holiday until December 4.
The 10-year authorization of the SCHIP program expired on September 30. The federal government currently operates it under temporary congressional authorization until December 14.

Precinct Leader List updated on the website
Our fearless IT leader, Scott Sanders, has updated the PCP list on the website. You need to signup for an account on the website to access the PCP pages. We will be updating it each month in order to keep it up to date with the new PCPs. There is also an excel spreadsheet version that can be downloaded from the site.
Finally! An easy way to find your Precinct number!
Students at the PCP classes have been hounding me for this, and it took a bit if calling around and asking several people at the County Elections Office, but I finally found a pretty simple way to determine a voter's Precinct Number:
http://washims.co.washington.or.us/gis/intermap/
It's the September "Feature of the Month" (click on the iceberg!) and it's in the Precinct Leader Info section too.
Go to the site, enter a residential address and sift thru the listed info, about midway you'll find the Election Precinct for that address. Happy hunting!
Google Mapping my precinct
Submitted by Mitch Gore on October 20, 2007 - 11:58am.
This morning I have been experimenting with Google Maps to get a birds-eye view of my precinct, precinct 47, and have found that you can save your custom maps, complete with outlines and overlays you can create yourself. So here is the map of Precinct 417.»
