Marilyn McWilliams' TV Water District Board Newsletter

Wow, I am celebrating a very exciting year serving as on the Tualatin Valley Water District Board.  It has been fun, stimulating, educational and rewarding.  I thank all the voters who put their trust in me, and I pledge to continue doing my best.

At our last meeting on July 14, we reassigned board officer positions.  Dick Schmidt is our new chair, and I am the vice-chair.  Richard Burke is our treasurer, Jim Duggan our secretary and Jim Doane our acting secretary.  We decided to keep our community involvement assignments the same, which means I will be the primary contact with Willamette River Water Coalition, the alternate with Regional Water Providers and the primary with Metro Policy Advisory Committee, representing Special Districts in Washington County.  Our board has worked together smoothly this year, and I look forward to continued success next year.

We did vote to increase the water rates by 1.7% effective next November, which for most people amounts to about $6 a year.  This will enable us to keep providing great customer service and quality water and to keep ahead of our infrastructure needs.

Finally, the Tualatin Riverkeepers are having their annual Mayor's Challenge Paddling Race at Cook Park at 6:00 pm on Thursday, July 22.  I won this race last year, but I am injured this year and will be cheering from the banks.  This is an opportunity to see local elected officials compete in a paddling contest to prove their ability to run successful races.  Below is a press release link for you to check out for more information.  I hope to see lots of you at the Cook Park boat ramp!
