FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 2007 Democratic National Committeeman To Speak to Washington County Democrats The Oregon Democratic National Committeeman will be the featured speaker at the Washington County Democratic Party Central Committee meeting Aug. 22 at the Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue facility, 20665 SW Blanton, Aloha. Social time begins at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting starting at 7 p.m. All county Democrats are invited. National Committeeman Wayne Kinney, in his second term as chair of the statewide Rules Committee for the Democrats, will explain the procedure to replace a state legislator when he or she steps down between elections. Sen. Ryan Deckert (D-Beaverton) has announced he will resign to take on a new job. Deckert represents Senate District 14, which includes Beaverton and a part of Portland’s west side. Democrats from District 14 interested in the replacement process should attend this meeting. Only elected and appointed precinct committee persons (PCPs) from the district can vote to nominate replacements, and those attending the meeting can be appointed as a PCP. Democrats at the meeting also will hear updates from legislators and committee chairs. ###
