Legislative Workshop
You, Too, Can influence Legislation
| Oregon has a very accessible legislative process. Citizens can have a powerful effect upon the legislation that is heard and passed in Salem. Come and learn how the system works and what you can do to make a difference in the laws that make Oregon a great place to live. | ![]() |
A workshop will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at the WashCo Dems office. It will begin at 4:00 and will last about 2 hours. In that time you will learn about how ideas become laws. You will also learn about testifying, meeting with legislators and contacting legislators about specific bills.
To sign up, please e-mail Alice from our Contacts Webform, select category Rules/Alice Bartelt. In order to have enough materials, Alice would like to know if you are coming by Friday, March 20th.

2009 WashCo Dems PCP Training Continues
Are you a new or continuing PCP (Precinct Committee Person) and feeling a little bit lost? Well help is on the way! The Training Committee regularly offers introductory and advanced training for PCPs. PCP 101 is basic training learning about your role and responsibilities as a PCP, your support systems and the organization of which you are a part. PCP 102 is the practical application of what you learned in basic 101. PCP 101 is required before taking 102.
Pre-registration is required four days in advance of each class and all classes are held at the Washington County Democrats Beaverton Office.
Contact demograce123@gmail.com to register or register at the Central Committee meeting on Wednesday, March 25 or on the registration form in the office during office hours.
PCP101: Thursday, April 16, 6:30 – 9:00 p.m.
Registration DUE Sunday, April 12
You may register for PCP 102 at this time but must have completed 101 before you take the 102 class.
PCP 102: Tuesday, April 21, 6:30 – 9:00 p.m.
Registration DUE Friday, April 17
Precinct Committee Persons (PCPs) are the most important building block of the party. Representing the Democratic Party in your precinct, you are the link between the voters in your neighborhood and the party, and the elected government officials in the party. You are the key person to turn out the vote to elect Democrats.
As PCPs we’re always working on elections. Now is the time to build relationships in your community in preparation for special elections and the 2010 primary and general elections. PCP training offered by fellow experienced Washington County Democrats can help prepare you for this important work.
