The 75th Legislative Assembly will convene January 12, 2009. The State of Oregon has a Citizen Legislature consisting of the Senate, whose 30 members are elected to serve four-year terms, and the House of Representatives, which has 60 members elected for two-year terms. The assembly convenes every two years in regular session on the second Monday in January during odd-numbered years, a date set by statute.
Over the past six years, we have worked very hard to turn Washington County blue – and in the process, we played a critical role in helping the Democratic Party take the majority in both the Oregon Senate and House of Representatives.
Now, as our state faces critical issues, this legislative session promises to be both busy and historical. Come and join us as we celebrate and honor the first day of this very important legislative session! Click Read more to find out how.

Congratulations to Lupita Maurer!
Lupita Maurer, who has barely left the Chair of the Washington County Dems, has been elected as an Oregon Committee Person to the Democratic National Committee!
She is one of three committee persons from Oregon, along with incumbent DNC member Wayne Kinney (from Deshutes County) and Mike Radway (from Multnomah County), elected to the DNC at the State Central Committee Mtg. Info here.
Her first DNC meeting is January 21st in Washington DC.
We know she will do a great job!
