2008 Ballot Measures

Washington County Democrats
Back Four November Ballot Measures

Washington County Democrats at their August meeting voted to support four measures on the November election ballot. All the other ballot measures were rejected.

The four measures , all legislative referrals, are:

Measure 54, which would standardize voting eligibility for school elections with other state and local elections.

Measure 55, which would change the operative date of redistricting plans to allow affected legislators to finish a term in the original district.

Measure 56, which would provide that May and November property tax elections are decided by a majority of voters voting. It would eliminate the double-majority requirement.

Measure 57, which would increase sentences for drug trafficking, theft against the elderly and specified repeat property and identity theft crimes. It would require addiction treatment for certain offenders. ###
